Today we will be previewing a resort called the Grand Mayan!

The Grand Mayan is located just north of Playa Del Carmen in the Yucatan Peninsula on the Riviera Maya on the eastern side of Mexico about 30 miles south of Cancun.

There are actually 4 resorts on the complex and it’s one of the biggest complex’s I’ve ever seen as far as land size. It’s huge!

They have an 18 hole championship golf course, and of course it sits right on the beach where they have that emerald colored water and white powder sand for all you beach lovers!

The pool is one of the largest pool systems I’ve ever seen, with pool side cabans which are very private.

The lobby is decorated in an Mayan decor with large statues of ancient gods and kings. It’s also huge and really sets the tone for the entire resort when you walk in.

From the lobby we went to our room and I was amazed at the luxury and the size of our unit there. It was probably one of the largest units I’ve ever had at any resort I’ve ever stayed at before. And truly beautiful.

The center of the unit it had a living room with two sleep sofas that pulled out to two queen size beds.

It also had a dining table that would accommodate 6 people easily.

The kitchen was outfitted with granite counter tops and stainless steel appliances, combined with a full set of cooking utensils like pots, pans, dishes, silverware, glasses and cups etc

The second bedroom had a king bed with another pull-out sofa for another queen bed. I honestly couldn’t believe how many beds this unit had. I honestly think we could have easily slept 8 people in it, although we only had 4 so we were quite comfortable!

The master bedroom had another king bed with another sleep sofa, but what I enjoyed most about our bedroom, was in the corner there was a very large jacuzzi bath tub built to accommodate 2 romantic people or one person who needs a nice quiet relaxing hour
after a long day. 🙂

The pool system at the Grand Mayan is one of the most intricate pool systems I’ve ever seen in my life.

Around the pool there are all sort of differet things for kids to do.

They have bungee jumping between two trampolines where they jump back and forth between the trampolines.. my son loved that!

They have rock climbing, snorkel lessons, and they also have there very large hollow balls that float on the water. They put the children inside the balls and the children try and walk around in the ball on the water! It’s really something to see!

If you have children, children love this place. It’s the biggest, grandest pool I’ve ever seen and children absolutely love it!

At another pool they have private cabanas which you can rent. They charge $30 per day but then they give you $30 worth of food, so escencially it’s free!

The main pool is so large it’s sort of like five pools all linked together.. When I say it’s big, it’s the largest pool I’ve ever personally seen at any resort in my entire life.

They also have little islands in the middle of the pools landscaped with flowing palm trees and flowers…it’s really beautiful!

There is a childrens pool equipped with sand lining the permiter of the pool so the children can play in the sand and also build sand castles, and the water is also very shallow so no need for concern about safety. It’s absolutely fantastic!

There is also a winding snake like pool which winds through the property which I would say is one of the most private. It’s lined with lounge chairs, long and narrow and covered with palm trees. It makes for a very relaxing poolside afternoon, very tranquil and quiet.

The beach is one of the prettiest beaches I’ve ever seen. It has that beautiful emerald water, and white powder sand so fine it literally felt like baby powder. If you like beautiful beaches, then you will love Playa Del Carmen!

Surrounding the resort that are a miltitude of fantastic things to do.

There are several ancient Mayan ruins like Chichen Itza, Telum, and Coba.

Chichen Itza is four hours west of Playa Del Carmen is a full city with the original pyramid still completely intact.

Tulum is where the Mayan priests lived which is to the south of Playa Del Carmen. It was built along cliffs overlooking the ocean and it really quite a sight to see.

If you enjoy history you will love your stay at the Grand Mayan. It is surrounded with an amazing amount of historic tours you can participate in and the history of the Mayans is quite facinating.

One evening we went to a two hour show about the history of the Mayans and it was fantastic!

There are also eco parks like Xcaret and Xel Ha which are great for kids and adults alike. They have undergound rivers you can snorkel through, cenotes (or caves) to explore, dolphin experiences where you actually swim with the dolphins, and outdoor massages under beautiful waterfalls.

So if you’re looking for a resort where you can take your entire family the Grand Mayan is perfect.

It’s also prefect for couples as it is an extremely romantic property also.

I personally take my own family there and have been there more than once!

The Grand Mayan ranks in the top 5 of all the thousands of resorts our company has access to, for me to recommend for people to go.

So I give the Grand Mayan my absolute highest recommenation!
