I have a lot of people ask me about the best thing for families to do in Scottsdale AZ, because I actually lived there for 8 years!
Scottsdale has some of the very best weather you’re going to find anywhere in the United States.

It’s a desert climate which means it has about 8% humidity.
It’s absolutely fantastic weather!
Scottsdale is one of the most beautiful cities you’re going to find anywhere in the U.S.
It has mountains, desert and palm trees, and is just a beautiful place to be.
If you like the outdoors, you’re going to love Scottsdale!
One of the things my son and I loved to do is to go hiking in the morning in the mountains out in the desert.
One of the mountains my son Nicolas and I like to hike is called Thoms Thumb.
It’s quite steep and takes about an hour and a half to hike, but once you reach the top it’s really beautiful.

I interviewed an activities director from the Sheraton Desert Oasis resort in Scottsdale and asked about things near-by for families to do.
The first thing he suggested was to take a hot air balloon ride!
The company is called Sonoran Desert Tours.
The company picks you up right at the resort, takes you on the balloon ride and then has a buffet afterward.
It’s a very exciting day and makes for some excellent memories.
Sonoran also does mining for Turquois, ghost adventures, and night vision tours.
The van tour company is called Across Arizona Tours.
Across Arizona does tours to the Grand Canyon, Sedona, and the Apache Trail.
If you like horse back riding, you can go with Cave Creek Outfitters.
Another one of the best things for families to do in Scottsdale AZ, is to visit Old Town Scottsdale.
Then there’s Old Town Scottsdale which was about 20 minutes south of the resort.
Old Town Scottsdale is a well preserved old west town in the heart of Scottsdale.
Old town has all sorts of restaurants and shops for a day of shopping adventure!
For children he recommended the McCormack Stillman Railroad Park.
This park has a big train museum, a carousel, and also has large old steam trains on the property.
You can also take your children on train rides there all through the park which is really fun!
McDonalds Ranch just north of the Sheraton Desert Oasis also does pony rides, trail rides, and also a petting zoo for kids!
There are also a few different water parks around Scottsdale.
One is called Big Surf water park, and the other is the newer Wet and Wild water park!
Either one makes for a very big day if you have kids!
