Since I’m originally from the east coast, I’ve had people ask me what are the best things to do in Gatlinburg TN.
Gatlinburg is a city that sits right in the heart of the Smoky mountains.

The buildings are kind of an alpine flavor, sort of like buildings in Austria is how I’d describe it.
The other architecture is wood and stone, so it definitely has a rustic feel.
While we were there, we went through the Great Smoky Mountains National Park to the town of Cherokee NC.
Our visit to Cherokee was certainly one of the highlights of our trip.
The Great Smoky Mountains National Park is the most visited park in the United States.
It has over 900 miles of hiking trails.
If you go there when the leaves have turned, it makes for a breath-taking drive.

Along the drive there are numerous places where you can stop and hike on different hiking trails.
So if you like the outdoors and like to hike, you will certainly be in your element here.
If you like to fish there is also trout fishing all through this park.
If you are a fisherman you will certainly think fishing is one of the best things to do in Gatlinburg TN!
I’m not much of a fisherman, but I very much enjoyed all the stone tunnels and waterfalls which were numerous through-out the park.
This is a unique area and very much worth the drive.
There are still numerous settlers cabins which were built in the 1600-1700’s that are still standing.
Some of them you can visit and learn about the history, so if you’re a history buff you’ll like this very much.
In the town of Gatlinburg, there is an open ski lift which you can get on and go up the mountain.
Or they have a bigger one called the Ober Gatlinburg which accommodates many more people and is enclosed.
Both will take you to the ski resort so if you like to ski, you’ll enjoy this also.
If you live anywhere around Gatlinburg this makes for a very nice day.
If you have children I don’t think you can go to Gatlinburg without visiting Dollywood.
Dollywood is probably the most famous adventure park in Tennessee and children love it there!
There is also a moonshine factory which you can check out!
If you like horses there are also places where you can rent horses and ride in the mountains.
So there are a multitude of outdoor activities you can do.
So those are some of the best things to do in Gatlinburg TN that my family enjoyed!
Gatlinburg sits in the Smoky Mountains and if you haven’t ever seen the leaves in Autumn, make sure you go there.
The leaves and all the colors are so beautiful it’s literally breath-taking.
